Job description
What if one store runs out of products, while the other has too much? What if there is high demand for a product in summer, but you only find out at the end of it? These are the kind of questions we deal with at Fashion Cloud.
In this role, you’ll be the central player to add more intelligence to our platform. You work with our data and team to come up with new predictive algorithms, design them, test them, prove them, and eventually help implement them.
About the job
Run analysis on data from hundreds of retail stores and webshops
Find new ways to improve stock levels and the order flow from brands to retailers
Help reduce waste in the supply chain, by optimally allocating stocks
Imagine, design, prove, and help implement new algorithms
Continuously bring more intelligence to our platform
Work with our development team, our BI team, our product managers and customers
About building predictive algorithms at Fashion Cloud
The main pool of data we have contains product, sales and inventory data of brands and retailers, but there are many other data sources available. These streams are maintained by development teams and our Business Intelligence (BI) team. You will coordinate with them how to consume the data, and give input on which other data you are missing for proper analysis.
Predictive algorithms in fashion work slightly differently than in other fields. By definition, you should not recommend based on historical data, because that’s last year’s fashion. Also, there are many boundary conditions that any algorithm should adhere to before a brand or retailer can work with it. It will be your job to find algorithms that combine mathematical rigor with everyday business rules.
Developing an algorithm is “easy”. The hard part is to prove that it actually improves outcomes. It will be your role to define metrics with which we can test whether your algorithms are working, and putting your algorithms to the test is key.
Once an algorithm is developed and proven, you are responsible for presenting the details and results in a clear manner. Depending on whether they run in a production environment or not, you either maintain these algorithms, or collaborate with one of the development teams to ensure they can be used smoothly forever.
